The staff at the Town of Milton is committed to assisting you during the 2010 Municipal Election year.

Before beginning your campaign, you should read the Candidate Handbook which is an overview of the campaign period. While the Candidate Handbook is only intended as a guide to certain relevant legislation, you should familiarize yourself with the Municipal Elections Act, 1996 for specific provisions and additional details.

If you are a school board trustee candidate, you should also familiarize yourself with the Education Act.

In addition, the Ontario Education Services Corporation, with support from the Ministry of Education, has developed an information guide for trustee candidates and communities – Making a Difference for Kids: Running for Election as a School Board Trustee. These publications are available for all four school boards:

The nomination period for the 2010 Municipal Election starts at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, January 4, 2010 and will close at 2 p.m. on Friday, September 10, 2010.
