Future Planning with the Community Services Master Plan Update

The Community Services Department will depend on the Plan to guide its direction for the next 5 years. Key action plans have been identified for arts, cultural, fitness and recreation services and the development of indoor and outdoor recreation facilities and parkland.

Several key drivers were identified during the input phase of the study, which helped shape the key action plans:

  • Facilities and services need to keep pace with population growth
  • Demands for unstructured, drop-in activities
  • Engage residents during and after the planning process
  • Establish quality community hubs in both indoor and outdoor spaces
  • Inclusive services for persons with disabilities, diverse cultures, low incomes, youth and older adults
  • Find new ways to make people aware of available opportunities
  • Pursuit of creative partnerships
