Parks and Open Space recently welcomed community members to share their thoughts and ideas on the development of three parks in Milton at a public input session on April 15, 2009 as well as a public input display, which ended June 20, 2009. The three parks included Brian Best Park (existing), Harrison Neighbourhood Park (future) and Coates Neighbourhood Park South (future). Finalized design concepts for Coates and Harrison parks are now available. The final concept will guide the detailed design of each park.
Brian Best Park is located in the established residential neighbourhood of Bronte Meadows. The park fronts onto Commercial Street and sides onto Parkway Drive to the north, and Williams Avenue to the south. The park was originally built in the late 1970s, and continues to be utilized today for organized ball and soccer. There are two ball diamonds one hardball and the other a softball diamond. The open area to the north is currently being used for two minor soccer fields.
Information was gathered from residents and user groups at a Public Input Session in April 2009. A second Public
Input Session was held on Wednesday, June 24, 2009 to present three different design options based on the feedback received
to date. Public feedback
will help formulate a preferred design which will be presented to Council for budget consideration. The preferred design
is intended to form part of the first phase of a longer-term park master plan.
