Sherwood Survey

Sherwood Survey Secondary Plan

The Sherwood Survey Secondary Plan has been developed in accordance with the Milton Official Plan and Halton Urban Structure Plan. It establishes land uses for a mainly residential community located to the west and southwest of the existing urban area, and provides more direction for the type of development that will be permitted. The Sherwood Survey Secondary Plan essentially does the following:

• Provides more detailed policies relating to land uses, urban design, servicing including stormwater management and phasing of development
• Establishes a linked open space and park system
• Sets out a detailed transportation network which will include a bike/pedestrian system
• Provides local community, institutional and commercial facilities

Council Adoption of and Regional Approval of Secondary Plan

Town of Milton Council adopted the Sherwood Survey Secondary Plan (Official Plan Amendment No. 15) on July 26, 2004. Pursuant to Section 17 of the Planning Act, the Sherwood Survey Secondary Plan document and supporting information was forwarded within 15 days of adoption to the Region of Halton for their review, consideration and approval. On December 3, 2004, the Region of Halton gave notice of decision with respect to the approval of the Sherwood Survey Secondary Plan (Official Plan Amendment No. 15) along with a series of modifications to the Plan. The last date for filing an appeal was December 23, 2004.

The Region of Halton received six appeals (the majority of them being site-specific) against the secondary plan. A series of Ontario Municipal Board (OMB) hearings were held during September, October, November and December 2005 to hear the appeals. (OMB Case No. PL050015)

The majority of the appeals have been resolved through Ontario Municipal Board Decision / Order Numbers 1249, 1895, 2769 and 2884. One site-specific appeal remains against the secondary plan.

Secondary Plan Available for Review

For convenience purposes only, the November 2005 Consolidation of the Sherwood Survey Secondary Plan /OPA No. 15, which includes the Regional modifications and the directions as set out in the above noted OMB Decision/Orders has been made available for public review on this web page. Please note that at the current time, this document is still arranged as an OPA document and will at some point in the future be consolidated into the Official Plan as a chapter to the plan.

For ease of downloading, the Secondary Plan has been separated into smaller files. Printed copies of the Secondary Plan document are available for viewing at the Planning Counter at the Town Hall , located at 150 Mary Street. Here are some helpful tips for printing and assembling the documents available below for downloading:

1. Print the separate sections which contain the text, schedules and appendices of the Secondary Plan document. (Print the schedules and maps in colour for ease of interpretation.)
2. Combine the sections according to the order indicated in the text document.
3. For help in assembling this document, please call the Planning & Development Department at 905-878-7252, ext. 2398 (8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Mondays to Fridays).
