Milton’s “We Are The Story” Campaign Nominated as Finalist for Promotional Award of Excellence from Economic Development Council of Ontario (EDCO)

Milton Economic Development was recognized at the annual Economic Development Council of Ontario (EDCO) awards for their innovative work on the recent “We Are The Story” marketing campaign. Competing against nearly 100 entries from communities and organizations across Ontario, Milton earned a finalist spot in the category of excellence for Economic Development branding and advertising.
“Milton is a dynamic, modern and innovative urban community filled with incredible success stories,” said Andrew Siltala, Director of Strategic Initiatives and Economic Development. “Through this campaign, we’ve had the opportunity to highlight some of the exceptional people, diverse industries and innovative entrepreneurs that are contributing to making our community A Place of Possibility.” 
In summer 2018, the campaign kicked-off with the release of a short, community-inspired promotional video developed by Milton Economic Development’s in-house marketing team in collaboration with local creative and artistic director, Zachary Scholtz. The video highlights some of Milton’s best assets, including local businesses and community hot spots, while focusing on the diverse talent, opportunity, innovation and exceptional quality of life that make Miltonians proud to call this community their home.
The campaign results, community feedback and digital engagement from this initiative have been extremely positive. Over the last few months, this video has received over 50,000 views across the Town’s various social channels, successfully driving new traffic and visitors to the Town’s website and enticing local companies to promote and share the video in their own marketing and recruitment efforts. The campaign has also been an effective marketing tool for collecting new local success stories that have led to a number of published feature articles. Using this campaign, Economic Development continues to increase awareness of Milton at events, meetings and across the region to spark interest in new investments, partnerships and initiatives.
