Trafalgar and Agerton Secondary Plans

What is it?

Agerton Employment Area and Trafalgar Corridor Secondary Plan Areas are Milton’s next phase of growth and development (2021-2031). These areas will be planned in accordance with Provincial Policies (Growth Plan, Greenbelt Plan, etc.), as well as Regional (Regional Official Plan Amendment 38) and Local policies to achieve the vision of a mixed-use intensification, transit supportive corridor.

Why are we doing this?

The Trafalgar Corridor is envisioned to be developed as a mixed use, high density corridor which supports the extension of higher order transit. A proposed major transit station was identified in the vicinity of the intersection of Derry and Trafalgar Roads. This area is physically separated from the balance of the urban area by the Sixteen Mile Creek Valley and is afforded an opportunity to accommodate higher density development and taller buildings in a manner which contributes positively to the overall urban structure.

Secondary Plans will establish a detailed planning and policy framework for a specific area to guide future development that will ultimately create complete communities.

Secondary Plans

On March 25th, 2019, Milton Council adopted the Trafalgar Secondary Plan. It is now with Halton Region for the regional approval process.

The Agerton Secondary Plan has not yet been taken forward for adoption by Milton Council, but has been forwarded to Halton Region as input into their Municipal Comprehensive Review process.

The Council of the Town of Milton passed By-law 030-2019 on March 25, 2019 which adopted the proposed Official Plan Amendment No. 54 to incorporate the Trafalgar Secondary Plan which provides detailed policies to guide the development of the Trafalgar Corridor.
