Parks and recreation study

The Town of Milton's Development Services department has initiated an Official Plan amendment to implement the Town's Recreation and Parks Strategy. The purpose of the amendment is to incorporate various updates to the Town of Milton’s Official Plan to reflect the revised Park and Recreation Strategy and expand the use of the alternative park dedication rate for low-density development.

Draft amendment

The draft local official plan amendment is currently under technical review by staff and commenting agencies and has not been approved.

Public consultation

A statutory public meeting has been scheduled for Monday, April 12, 2021 at 7:00 pm where members of the public are invited to obtain information, make a verbal presentation presentation and/or written submission to identify issues or concerns and or express your views in support of, or in opposition of, these applications.  A copy of the public meeting notice can be found on our development notices page.

Cannabis production and processing

The Town of Milton's Development Services department has completed the Official Plan and Zoning By-law amendments to update planning policies and regulations with regard to the land-use implications of the legal production and processing of cannabis to ensure Milton's policy framework is responsive to the applicable federal legislative framework.

The above is currently under technical review by staff and commenting agencies and have not been approved.

Public consultation

The statutory public meeting was held on Monday, November 18, 2019. A copy of the staff report is available for review.

The recommendation report was presented to Council on June 22, 2020. A copy of the staff report and official plan amendment and zoning by-law amendments are available for review. A notice of passing was issued and is currently under the required appeal period.

Mature neighbourhood areas

The Town of Milton's Development Services department has initiated a Local Official Plan Amendment and Zoning By-law amendments proposing to implement recommendations to better manage change and development in the Town's mature neighbourhoods and character areas.  A zoning by-law amendment proposes to amend the boundary of the Downtown Character Area and establish new regulations for new or replacement dwellings and additions to existing dwellings within the Character Area.
