Bronte Street (Steeles Avenue to Main Street)

Bronte Street, between Steeles Avenue and Main Street, is being widened to support growth in the community. The Class Environmental Assessment study for this project was completed in 2017.

The roadway is designed as two through lanes (one in each direction) with a centre shared turn lane, an at-grade crossing with CP Rail, as well as a crossing of the Sixteen Mile Creek.

The project involves two phases:

  1. Phase 1: Victoria Street to Main Street - construction 2018
  2. Phase 2: Steeles Avenue to Victoria Street - construction 2019/2020

Phase 1 - Victoria Street to Main Street

This phase consists of:

  • Construcion of improved intersection with Main Street
  • New traffic signals at Main Street
  • Construction of a multi-purpose trail on the east boulevard and sidewalk on the west boulevard
  • On-street bike lanes

Phase 2 - Steeles Avenue to Victoria Street

This phase consists of:

  • Construction of two through lanes (one in each direction) and a centre shared turn lane
  • Construction of a multi-purpose trail on the east boulevard and sidewalk on the west boulevard
  • On-street bike lanes
  • New bridge crossing at Sixteen Mile Creek
