Parking throughout Milton is limited to five hours. You also cannot park on the street between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m., unless otherwise posted. You can apply to get extended parking for up to 15 hours on one side of a residential street.

Apply for extended parking

To apply for extended street parking, you need to submit a written request to:

Engineering Services
150 Mary St.
Milton, ON L9T 6Z5

The request should include the reason for requesting extending parking on your street. Once we receive your request, we will conduct a site inspection to see if your street can support extended parking.

Gather signatures

If we feel your street can support extended parking, we will give you an information package and petition form. You must gather signatures from 51% of the homeowners on your street indicating that they support extended parking.

Fill out the parking questionnaire

If you are able to get 51% or more support, we will issue an official parking questionnaire to confirm support. Each individual homeowner on the street must complete the questionnaire and return it to the Town of Milton before the specified date.

Parking by-law amendment request

If 51% or more of homeowners support extended parking on the questionnaire, we will ask Council for an amendment to the parking by-law on your street. Once this is approved, new parking signs will be installed on your street.

Extended parking will not take effect until all appropriate signs have been installed.

Impact of extended parking

It is important to note that extending parking on one side of your street will result in no parking on the other side of the street at all times. Extended street parking may:

  • Complicate parking enforcement, snow removal, road maintenance and waste collection efforts
  • Result in residents from nearby streets parking on your street
