About development charges

Development charges (DCs) allow for the recovery of growth-related capital expenditures that occur as a result of providing municipal services to new residential and non-residential development. Development charges are collected to provide funds to allow Milton to expand municipal services to new developments. The charges are used to support investment in growth infrastructure such as the expansion of arterial roads, the construction of new recreation facilities, parkland and libraries as well as expansion of the fire and transit service.
