Firehouse Subs Grant

On Wednesday, September 4, 2019, The Milton Fire Department enthusiastically accepted a $15,125 grant from the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation of Canada.

This generous donation will be used to purchase 500 new smoke alarms and 500 new carbon monoxide alarms from First Alert. The Milton Fire Department will provide free alarms to residents on an as-needed basis through the Seniors Smoke Alarm program and other public safety initiatives planned for 2019 and 2020.

“We are grateful to receive this grant from the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation of Canada,” said Kevin Foster, Acting Fire Chief, Milton Fire Department. “With this donation, the Milton Fire Department will be able to purchase smoke and CO alarms to help us continue to provide life-saving tools to members of the Milton community.”

The Ontario Fire Code requires working smoke alarms on every storey in the home and outside all sleeping areas. CO alarms are also required adjacent to all sleeping areas in homes with a fuel-burning appliance or attached garage.
