Town of Milton calls for Nominations for Senior of the Year 2014

Posted on Monday January 20, 2014

The Town of Milton is now accepting nominations for Senior of the Year 2014. The Province of Ontario offers municipalities the opportunity to honour one outstanding senior from their community each year. This annual award helps to honour and build respect for local residents, fosters community pride, and recognizes and values diversity.

"The Milton community is very fortunate to have so many outstanding individuals who volunteer their time and make a difference in town," said Milton Mayor, Gord Krantz. "This is our opportunity to recognize those efforts and honour the older adults in our community who make Milton a wonderful place to live, work and play."

Established in 1994, the Senior of the Year Award honours one outstanding local senior in each municipality in Ontario, and is presented during Seniors’ Month in June. The nominee must be 65 years of age or older, a current resident of Milton for a minimum of one year and must not have previously accepted the award. He or she must have contributed to Milton’s community in at least one of the following areas: arts or literature; community service or volunteerism; humanitarian activities; science; education; fitness, recreation or sport; environment, or keeping history alive.

Nominations will be accepted until Friday, February 7, 2014 at 4:30 p.m.

Nomination forms and process guidelines are available online at and at Town of Milton facilities.
