The FirstOntario Credit Union Every Milton Child Every Year Arts Program will be available to all grade eight students in Milton beginning May, 2019. This free children’s program will bring students to FirstOntario Arts Centre Milton to experience the arts each year.

On Monday, September 24, 2018, Milton Council received a report announcing this innovative program would be made available to grade eight students in 2019, and to all future grade eight students on an annual basis.

“I am excited that beginning next year Milton students will have the opportunity to experience the arts for no cost in our community,” said Milton Mayor Gord Krantz. “This program is an example of Milton’s commitment to extend educational arts experiences to youth in our community, and we are grateful to FirstOntario Credit Union and the community donors who have made this program possible.”

In addition to the announcement, the Centre has confirmed that the first performance will be Live Your Legacy, featuring Shaun Boothe - an award winning hip hop artist, TEDx speaker and creator of ‘The Unauthorized Biography Series’. Live Your Legacy is a dynamic motivational and educational assembly presentation that integrates live musical performance, multimedia and motivational talks.

“We are ecstatic that Shaun Boothe’s Live Your Legacy will be the first performance offered through the program.” said Carly Anderson, Manager of Culture. “Our hope is that Milton youth will walk away feeling inspired and empowered, with a new-found passion for the arts.”

To extend this program to students in additional grade levels further funding is needed. A community-wide fundraising campaign is currently under way, with giving options suitable to individuals, families, and corporations.
