Celebrate Youth Week in Milton May 1 to 7

The Town of Milton, in partnership with the Milton Youth Advisory Committee (MYAC), will be celebrating Youth Week May 1 to 7, 2013. This annual, international event is a week of fun-filled activities, interaction and celebration dedicated to youth and their active participation in the community.

The Town of Milton is offering a variety of leisure and recreation activities during Youth Week at Town facilities for youth ages 13 to 17.

Free activities include Drop-in Dodgeball (May 1), Teen Stick ‘N Puck (May 2) and Youth Aquafit (May 5) at the Milton Sports Centre; Youth Swim (May 3), HOOPS (May 6) and Youth Boot Camp (May 7) at the Milton Leisure Centre; and a Skateboard Deck Design workshop at the Milton Centre for the Arts on May 4.  A number of drop-in sports sessions are also available all week at regular prices at the Milton Leisure Centre and Sports Centre.

The Milton Youth Advisory Committee (MYAC) will host a Coffee House on Wednesday, May 15, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Milton Centre for the Arts in MinMaxx Hall. The cost is $2, and youth can enjoy the musical stylings of Milton’s youth presented by MYAC. Light refreshments will be provided by Tim Hortons.

Also during the month of May, Milton Transit will offer a 25 per cent discount on the Student Monthly Pass. May passes are currently available at Town facility ticket agents. For additional Information, visit www.milton.ca/en/live/transit.asp.

The Milton Youth Advisory Committee (MYAC) is a voluntary group of youth who are interested and care about issues facing the youth of Milton. MYAC is dedicated to giving Milton youth a voice, and recognizing and celebrating youth in the Milton community.
