Destiny Milton 3 presents vision for a "vibrant, thriving and innovative community"

Posted on Tuesday November 10, 2015

The Town of Milton has updated its strategic action plan, Destiny Milton 3, to guide priority setting and help inform annual budgets and work plans for Council and Staff. Destiny Milton 3 is the third strategic plan completed for the Town and was approved by Milton Council at its meeting on November 9, 2015.

"A great deal of work has gone into the development of Destiny Milton 3, and I would like to thank my colleagues on Council who collaborated on this project, as well as Senior Management Team, Town Staff and members of the community for their contributions," said Milton Mayor Gord Krantz. "I encourage everyone to take a few moments and read through this document that will guide our strategic decision-making over the next few years."

Destiny Milton 3 includes updated Vision and Mission statements for the Town, as well as five goals: Vibrant and Connected Community, Economic Growth, Financial Sustainability, Enhanced Communication and Organizational Effectiveness. The document is intended to set the vision for the next decade, with recommended actions to commence over the remaining term of Council (to the fall of 2018).

The process to revise the strategic action plan included consultation with Council, staff, and community members (through surveys, interviews, focus groups and workshops), as well as secondary research including analyses of community demographic information and reviews of other municipalities’ strategic plans.

The Town of Milton’s first strategic plan, Destiny Milton, was completed in the early 1990s to provide the basis for managing change that occurred as a result of the extension of services to Milton. The plan was updated in 2006 and became known as Destiny Milton 2.
