Public service announcement

Milton is celebrating Bike Month 2022 this June, encouraging residents to get active and ride their bikes on Milton’s connected pathway system.

The theme for Bike Month 2022 is #BikeThere. Milton boasts over 220 km of trails and bike lanes for residents to explore the community by bike. The Town is also home of the Mattamy National Cycling Centre, the only premiere velodrome in Canada. The state-of-the-art indoor cycling facility serves as both a community recreation facility and a venue for international, provincial and national events.

This year, the Town of Milton and the Halton municipalities are offering a series of free webinars for Bike Month. The webinars cover everything from bike safety and share the road to bike maintenance.

Cycling infrastructure is an integral part of building a complete community in Milton. New infrastructure that contributes to the Town’s cycling network is being built this year, with several other projects in the design stage that will add infrastructure for active transportation (including bike lanes, multi-use paths, and sidewalks). The Louis St. Laurent Avenue (James Snow Parkway to Fifth Line), Bronte Street (Steeles Avenue to Victoria Street) and Main Street East (James Snow Parkway to Fifth Line) projects, all currently under construction, all include the addition of active transportation facilities for pedestrians and cyclists. Through active transportation networks, the Town advances Milton as an environmentally sustainable community.
