News Release
On Monday, Dec. 14, 2020, Council approved cash grants from the 2020 Milton Community Fund program to financially support 33 local organizations and increase opportunities for community organizations to deliver recreation and cultural services and programming.
This year, the Milton Community Fund grants totalled $231,027. The Community Fund supports a wide range of community organizations and programs throughout Milton, giving more people access to sports, recreation and arts programs.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has presented challenges for community organizations that rely on membership and participation fees to support their programs and activities,” said Mayor Gord Krantz. “By providing funding to these groups through the Milton Community Fund, we are improving the quality of life for many residents while building sustainable partnerships in the local community. I want to thank all of these volunteer driven organizations for giving their time to ensure residents can access a wide variety of programs and services”
In light of the fluctuating nature of COVID-19 restrictions, the Town of Milton and the Community Fund Advisory Committee recognize the importance of providing funding to help with changing provisions and overall sustainability during this difficult time.
Milton Council established the Community Fund to distribute a portion of the funds received from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (Woodbine at Mohawk Park) to local community organizations. Over the past 19 years, the Milton Community Fund has distributed more than $6.6 million to a wide range of not-for-profit community organizations and individuals.
