News release

While fire can happen anywhere at any time, it most often strikes when people are distracted by the hustle and bustle of the holidays. Holiday celebrations can turn tragic in an instant.

The Milton Fire Department is helping you keep safe during this holiday season by launching Sparky’s 12 days of fire safety. This year’s campaign features 12 vital fire safety topics that protect against seasonal risks including electrical, cooking, and heating fire prevention.

“During the holiday season when we are spending time with our loved ones, it is important to be vigilant and keep safety at top of mind,” said Milton Fire Chief Peter Gatto. “We encourage you to enjoy the festive season while always making fire safe choices.”

This campaign features the one and only Sparky. The National Fire Prevention Association’s mascot is included in fire safety scenarios and videos to help inform individuals about the importance of being extra cautious during the holiday season.

Stay tuned for these safety tips on the Milton Fire Department’s Twitter account @MiltonFireON starting Dec. 12, 2021. We encourage you to share these tips and help spread fire safety information over the holidays.
