As students make their way back to in-person learning for the 2021-22 school year, the Town of Milton is launching its annual back to school traffic safety campaign, aiming to help drivers and pedestrians navigate school zones safely.

The community is reminded to follow school zone rules and traffic regulations, including:

  • When nearing a school crossing, pay attention to pedestrians, signs and flashing lights at some locations
  • Wait until both pedestrians and crossing guards are completely off the road before proceeding
  • Obey the “No Parking” and “No Stopping” signs
  • Obey school zone speed limits
  • Do not park or leave your vehicle unattended in the kiss and ride area
  • Use designated drop off zones, not busy streets or intersections

Halton Regional Police Service is once again getting ready to launch Project Safe Start. This campaign will focus on education, awareness and high-visibility enforcement of traffic laws throughout Halton region, including Milton. Working closely with Halton Regional Police Service, Milton’s Municipal Law Enforcement Unit will actively enforce the regulations around parking and traffic activity within local school zones.

For more information about traffic safety, municipal by-laws and the Highway Traffic Act, visit the Town’s website. The community is encouraged to follow the Town of Milton on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for back to school traffic safety reminders all month long.
