Statement from Mayor Gordon Krantz

A temporary by-law directing the mandatory use of non-medical masks or face coverings in enclosed places was passed at Halton Region Council on July 15, 2020. The by-law comes into effect on July 22, 2020.

Milton Council and staff continue to prioritize the health and safety of our community. As such, the implementation of a region-wide by-law supports other critical public health interventions in place as the region re-opens.

Public health officials continue to monitor COVID-19 and the risks to the public. Wearing a mask is a proactive measure and continues the efforts as a community to prevent the spread of the disease.

We all have a role to play in managing this pandemic by remaining vigilant and residents are asked to continue to do their part through physical distancing, washing their hands regularly, wearing a non-medical mask, and staying home when ill.

Residents are encouraged to learn more about where masks are required, and individuals or places that are exempted. Similar to adjusting to gatherings and physical distancing measures that have been put in place, as we alter to this new measure, please be kind to each other.

More information is coming soon from Halton Region and the Town about this by-law.

We encourage residents to stay informed about Milton’s response to COVID-19.

I invite residents to:

Stay well,

Mayor Gord Krantz
