In accordance with the provisions of the Planning Act, this is to advise that the Corporation of the Town of Milton has initiated a town-wide local Official Plan amendment to implement the Britannia Secondary Plan.

Application details

  • The subject property is situated along Britannia Road, from Sixth Line in the east to Thompson Road in the west, and along James Snow Parkway south of Britannia Road
  • The purpose of this amendment is to bring forward a secondary plan for Britannia with detailed land use permissions as the Town’s next phase of urban expansion. A copy of the proposed secondary plan and background studies is available at LetsTalkMilton.ca/Britannia and at Town Hall
  • The Britannia Secondary Plan area is approximately 904 gross developable hectares in size and is anticipated to accommodate approximately 46,450 residents and 10,730 jobs to achieve a minimum density target of 60 residents and jobs combined per hectare

If you miss the delegate request deadline, you can request to make an oral submission during the meeting by dialling in to the dedicated phone number at 1-866-511-0021.

Review the electronic delegate meeting guide submitting your request. Town staff will contact you with further instructions. You will be given step-by-step instructions on how to enter and participate in the meeting. Those who register during the course of a live meeting will not have the ability to provide on-screen presentations due to the absence of prescreening. All written submissions received will be forwarded to Council following the meeting.

Legal notices required under the Planning Act

If a person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the Town of Milton before the By-law is passed, the person or public body is not entitled to appeal the decision of Milton Council to the Ontario Land Tribunal.

If a person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting, or make written submissions to the Town of Milton before the By-law is passed, the person or public body may not be added as a party to the hearing of an appeal before the Ontario Land Tribunal, unless in the opinion of the Tribunal, there are reasonable grounds to add the person or public body as a party.

Personal information is collected under the authority of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, c.P. 13 and may be contained in an appendix to a staff report, published in the meeting agenda, delegation list and/or the minutes of the public meeting and made part of the public record. The Town of Milton collects this information in order to make informed decisions on the relevant issues and to notify interested parties of Council’s decisions. It may also be used to serve notice of an Environmental and Land Tribunals Ontario hearing. Names and addresses contained in submitted correspondence and other information will be available to the public, unless the individual expressly requests the Town to remove their personal information. The disclosure of this information is governed by the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, R.S.O. 1990, c.M. 56.
