FirstOntario Arts Centre Milton
The FirstOntario Arts Centre Milton is a community-based, interdisciplinary arts venue that builds and supports cultural vitality in the Town of Milton. It creates partnerships between the Town of Milton and the community that support arts and culture as part of everyday life in Milton. The FirstOntario Arts Centre Milton presents and supports the presentation of performances, events, art exhibitions and programs, and provides professional support to community-based arts and culture organizations and artists.
Art Programs
The FirstOntario Arts Centre Milton offers a wide selection of arts programs for all ages and skills levels that are creative, innovative, fun, and welcoming. From art fundamentals to advanced techniques, programs are led by professional artists who will inspire and encourage students. Participation in the arts stimulates the imagination, heightens cognitive and problem-solving skills, and provides tools for self-expression.
Holcim Gallery

Located inside the FirstOntario Arts Centre Milton, the Holcim Gallery has up to 150 feet of wall hanging space and welcomes artwork from individual artists, artist collectives, art and historical societies, independent curators, and other organizations. New artwork is hung every third Monday throughout the year. To date, the Holcim Gallery has exhibited more than 3000 artworks in media ranging from painting and sculpture to mixed media and fiber art.

Milton Room Showcase

The Milton Room provides space for 1 – 15 works of art at one time. The primary function of this space is as a meeting room, but has a track hanging system that can accommodate 2D artworks. This unique two-story room features a number of large windows providing natural light. It was built in 2009 as part of the Town Hall expansion, and blends historic and modern architecture.

While the Milton Room has been designated as a public meeting room, featuring the work of local artists, both amateur and professional, it aims to increase the profile of the arts in the community and to introduce the public to the talents of Milton artists. The Milton Room has a primary use as a meeting room and viewing of exhibitions will be limited as permit holders will have first priority.

The gallery welcomes artwork from individual artists, artist collectives, art and historical societies, independent curators and other organizations. Exhibitions run for a duration of three months, beginning in September, December, March and June. 

Rental fee includes the following services:

  • Support installing artworks
  • Printed labels of artworks
  • Promotion through website
  • Artworks insured for the duration of the exhibition
  • Opportunity to host an opening reception (additional fee may apply)

The rental fee is $30.

Milton Film Forum
Organized by local volunteers and coordinated through Film Circuit, a division of the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), Milton Film Forum is proud to provide you with access to the latest independent, international and Canadian films.

Enjoy an intimate and interactive monthly movie-going experience, with refreshments, discussion and the occasional special guest from the film's crew or cast.

Arts Milton
Arts Milton is the de facto umbrella arts organization for the Town of Milton. Arts Milton provides input to the Town of Milton on issues related to arts and culture
Culture Days
Arts Milton organizes Milton Culture Days annually.  Culture Days is a national celebration of arts and culture – hundreds of thousands of artists and cultural organizations in cities and towns come together and invite Canadians to participate in free, interactive and “behind the scenes” activities to discover their cultural spirit and passion. Culture Days is an opportunity for the public to acquaint themselves with the plethora of arts and culture within their city.

Arts Milton has coordinated Culture Days at the FirstOntario Arts Centre Milton since 2012. In 2017 and 2018 Milton Culture Days was ranked #1 in Canada (by population) and #4 in Canada overall in recognition of the 75+ free participatory arts and culture activities offered by 200+ community organizers. Activities ranged from a South Asian fashion show to Latin karaoke and speed philosophy.
