Senior of the Year

The Province of Ontario offers municipalities the opportunity to honour one outstanding senior from their community each year. Involvement with this program is in keeping with the Town's strategic goal of a vibrant and connected community. This award helps to build respect and honour for community residents, fosters community pride, and recognizes and values diversity.

Nomination Criteria Summary

Nominees must meet all of the following criteria:

  • 65 years of age and older
  • Have made contributions to better the community in at least one of the following areas:
    • Arts/literature
    • Community service/volunteerism
    • Education
    • Environment/science
    • Fitness/recreation/sport
    • Humanitarian activities
    • Keeping history alive
  • A current resident of Milton (minimum of one year)
  • Not previously a recipient of the award

Consideration is given based on the following additional criteria:

  • Past and current contribution to the community from age 55
  • Impact of their involvement
  • Leadership roles
  • Community commitment and support
