Current board and committee opportunities

Help shape the future of Milton by serving on a Town board or committee. We're looking for community members to share their knowledge, experience and perspective to help inform local decision-making. Applications are open until Oct. 30, 2026, at 4:30 p.m. Review the opportunities below and apply today. Applications will be reviewed for Council consideration in late 2026/early 2027. 

Committee of Adjustment and Consent  

This independent committee of Council-appointed residents makes decisions under Ontario’s Planning Act on minor zoning variances, changes to legal non-conforming buildings, structures and land uses, and applications to divide land. It also hears appeals of orders issued under the Town’s Property Standards By-law. n addition to the general eligibility requirements, applicants should have knowledge or experience in one or more of the following areas: law, planning, architecture, government, economic development, community development, land development, environmental planning, or community advocacy. 

Milton Accessibility Advisory Committee  

This committee advises and assists the Town in promoting an inclusive, barrier-free community for people of all abilities, including people with disabilities. 

In addition to the general eligibility requirements, most members must be people with disabilities. Other members should have an interest in accessibility and disability-related matters. 

Milton Public Library Board  

The Milton Public Library Board oversees and governs the public library system in accordance with the Public Libraries Act and the authority granted by Milton Council. Its mandate is to ensure a comprehensive and efficient library system, supported by policies that reflect community needs and guide effective operations. 

In addition to the general eligibility requirements, preferred qualifications include experience developing strategic plans and recent service on a public library or not-for-profit board. 

Community Fund Advisory Committee  

This committee provides advice and recommendations on the Milton Community Fund Program and supports the review of grant applications and award programs. Knowledge of Milton's recreation, culture, arts, or sports sectors is an asset. 

Property Standards Appeal Committee  

This committee hears appeals of orders issued by Property Standards Officers when properties do not meet the minimum standards set out in the Town's Property Standards By-law. 

In addition to the general eligibility requirements, knowledge of Ontario’s Building Code Act and an understanding of municipal law are assets.
