The Mattamy National Cycling Centre was constructed in preparation for the 2015 Pan American/Parapan American Games held in Toronto. Milton considered the request based on committed support from the Games and government partners to develop a facility that would provide benefit to the Milton community for years to come.
The land adjacent to the Mattamy National Cycling Centre is planned to be the future home of the Milton Education Village (MEV). MEV is a comprehensively planned, modern neighbourhood with a focus on sustainability and the future. Conceived as a hub for innovators, the MEV will bring together state-of-the-art educational and research facilities, knowledge-based employers, diverse housing options, accessible transportation, natural green space and urban amenities. Wilfrid Laurier University and Conestoga College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning are both committed to creating a campus in the Milton Education Village.
