Hosting an event on private property—such as a festival, fundraiser, cultural celebration, or community gathering—may require permits, licences, and approvals.

  • Takes place on private property not owned or operated by the Town of Milton 

  • Is open to the public 

  • Is advertised through websites, social media, signage, or news media 

  • May impact traffic, nearby neighborhoods, or public safety 

  • May require approval from a regulatory agency (for example, the Town, AGCO, or Halton Region Public Health)

Event requirements and safety rules 

Events on public property must meet requirements for permits, licences, and safety.  

Depending on your event, this may include: 

A public event on private property is considered to: 

  • Be an event taking place at a location that is not owned and operated by The Town of Milton

  • Have the potential to strain the community’s emergency services response

  • Have a foreseeable impact on the regular flow of traffic

  • Have the potential to adversely affect the Town of Milton community

  • Require the approval of a regulatory agency, e.g. Town, AGCO, Halton Region Health Department, which is outside the scope of typical operations

You may also need to meet health and safety requirements, such as: 

  • Alcohol service permits  

  • Electrical safety approvals for generators or temporary power 

  • Food safety approvals 

  • On-site support from paramedic or police services
