Overview 

The Milton Youth Task Force (MYTF) celebrates the achievements of young people in the community through the annual Milton Youth Awards. These awards recognize youth, as well as organizations and individuals who support youth, for their contributions and positive impact in Milton. 

By highlighting these achievements, the program helps promote a positive image of young people and raises awareness of the important role youth and community members play in shaping Milton. 

The community is invited each year to submit nominations for the Milton Youth Awards. Nominations are currently closed for the 2026 awards. 

Who can participate 

The Milton Youth Awards program is open to: 

  • Youth in grades 7 to 12 in Milton 

  • Individuals, groups, and organizations who wish to submit nominations 

Award details 

The Milton Youth Awards include a range of categories that recognize achievements across different areas of interest, including leadership, arts, athletics, and community involvement. 

To help you explore the awards, each category is outlined below. 

Award categories 

Awarded to a youth who makes a positive impact in the Milton community through strong leadership and a commitment to improving the lives of others. 

Youth nominated in other award categories may also be considered. 

  • This award is selected from among recipients of other award categories 

Awarded to a youth who shows long-term commitment to the arts and uses their talents to benefit the community. 

This may include contributions in: 

  • Multimedia  

  • Theatre  

  • Dance 

  • Music  

  • Visual arts

Awarded to a youth who demonstrates strong sportsmanship and makes a meaningful contribution to the sporting community, both on and off the field. 

Awarded to a youth who demonstrates a strong commitment to environmental sustainability and takes action to create a positive impact in their community.  

Awarded to a youth who raises awareness and advocates for positive social change within the community and beyond. 

Awarded to a youth business owner who shows initiative, inclusive business practices, and a commitment to growing their business while supporting their community. 

Awarded to a youth who supports and mentors peers or younger children in the community. 

This may include roles such as: 

  • Tutor  

  • Instructor  

  • Coach-in-training 

Awarded to a youth group that works together to make a positive impact in the community.  

This may include: 

  • After-school groups 

  • Community youth groups 

  • Groups of friends working toward shared goals  

Awarded to a youth aged 12 to 14 who started an initiative that makes a positive impact in the community. 

This award recognizes emerging leadership and potential for future contributions.  

Other awards 

Play Works is an Ontario partnership that promotes active and engaged youth and has recognized the Town of Milton as a Gold Level Youth Friendly Community. This program highlights the importance of participation, inclusion, and community involvement for youth aged 13 to 19. 

Activities recognized through this program may include: 

  • Sports 

  • Recreation 

  • Drama 

  • Dance 

  • Music 

  • Art 

  • Volunteering 

  • Leadership development 

  • Service leadership 

  • Civic engagement 

How to participate
