Transfers

Overview 

Transfers allow you to travel between Milton Transit routes and connecting transit services using a single fare. When traveling on multiple buses as part of one trip, you can request a free transfer at the time you pay your fare. 

This page explains how to request and use a transfer, as well as the rules and requirements for transferring within Milton Transit and between neighbouring transit systems. 

Who this is for 

This information is for: 

  • Riders transferring between Milton Transit routes 

  • Riders connecting to or from Brampton Transit or MiWay 

  • Customers paying with cash, tickets, or PRESTO 

What you need 

To receive a transfer, you must request one when you board and pay your fare. 

Transfers are available to: 

  • Cash-paying customers 

  • Ticket users 

The transfer shows the time until which it is valid for your trip. You must show your transfer to the operator each time you board a bus. 

How to get a transfer 

Request your transfer from the bus driver at the time you pay your fare. Transfers are issued when boarding and cannot be issued later. 

How to use a transfer 

Once you receive a transfer, you can continue your trip across routes within the allowed transfer time. 

  • Transfers are valid for two hours 

  • Transfers can be used in any direction 

  • Travel may include return trips or stopovers within the time window 

Rules and restrictions 

The following rules apply when using transfers: 

  • Transfers must be obtained from the bus driver at the time you pay your fare 

  • Transfers are valid for two hours and can be used for travel in any direction 

  • Transfers cannot be given to or shared with other passengers 

  • Transfers are invalid when wrinkled, torn, or otherwise damaged 

  • Lost transfers will not be reissued 

Connecting with other transit services 

Milton Transit connects with Brampton Transit and MiWay, making it possible to continue your trip across transit systems. 

Transferring from Brampton Transit or MiWay to Milton Transit 

Follow the steps below based on how you pay your fare. 

PRESTO customers 

  1. Show your PRESTO card or proof of PRESTO contactless payment when boarding Milton Transit 

  1. Inform the driver that you are transferring from a Brampton Transit or MiWay route 

  1. Receive a Milton Transit paper transfer 

  1. Use the transfer for the remainder of your trip within the allowed time window 

Cash-paying customers 

  1. Request a paper transfer when boarding Brampton Transit or MiWay 

  1. Keep your transfer to present when boarding Milton Transit 

  1. Use the transfer to continue your trip within Milton during the allowed transfer window 

Transferring from Milton Transit to Brampton Transit or MiWay 

  1. Ask the Milton Transit driver for a paper transfer when boarding 

  1. Use the transfer when connecting to Brampton Transit or MiWay 

  1. Continue your trip for the remaining duration of the two-hour transfer window

  • Argentia Rd. west of Winston Churchill Blvd (Stop ID 3801) 

  • Argentia Rd. west of Winston Churchill Blvd (Stop ID 3800) 

  • Argentia Rd. east of Tenth Line (Stop ID 3812) 

  • 3050 Argentia Rd. (Stop ID 1850) 

  • Lisgar GO Station 

Travelling to/from Toronto Premium Outlets 

A standard Milton Transit fare is required when boarding at Toronto Premium Outlets. 

  • PRESTO fares are not accepted at this location 

  • Payment must be made using cash, ticket, monthly pass, or valid paper transfer
