Rider Tips and Safety
Milton Transit provides safe and reliable service for travel within Milton and across the Greater Toronto Area. Understanding how to use the system helps you plan your trip and travel with ease.
This page provides tips and safety guidance for using Milton Transit, including what to do before boarding, during your trip, and when exiting the bus.
Before you travel, check schedules and routes to plan your trip.
Arrive at your bus stop 2–5 minutes before the scheduled arrival time to avoid missing your bus.
Bus stops are marked with a white sign displaying the international bus symbol and the Milton Transit logo. Some stops also provide schedule information for that location.
Before boarding, check the route name, number, and destination displayed on the front and side of the bus to make sure you are getting on the correct route.
If you need assistance, let the operator know when boarding. The bus can be lowered, or a ramp can be deployed to support accessibility needs.
Have your fare ready before boarding. When you get on the bus, show your pass, ticket, or pay the exact fare.
If you need to transfer to another route, ask the operator for a transfer when you pay your fare and request that the connecting bus be held.
Signal your stop shortly after the bus leaves the stop before your destination. This lets the operator know when to stop.
You can request a stop in one of the following ways:
-
Pull the yellow cord located along the window
-
Press the stop request button on the yellow grab bars
-
Press the yellow strip along the bottom of the seat (in mobility device securement areas)
An interior sign at the front of the bus will light up to confirm your stop request. The operator will also announce stops as the bus approaches.
Stop requests made in mobility device securement areas will activate an audible double chime.
