Transient Traders

If you operate a business without a permanent location in Milton, you must apply for a transient trader licence before selling goods or services. 

Transient trader licences regulate temporary and mobile sales activities to ensure they are safe, fair, and follow local by-laws. This includes activities such as day sales, door-to-door sales, seasonal markets, and event vendors.

  • Vendors participating in markets, events, or seasonal sales 

  • Businesses conducting door-to-door sales

What you need 

Before you apply, make sure you have: 

  • Details about your business activities 

  • The location(s) where you plan to operate

  • Site map (maybe add - a plan showing where they are intending to set up certain things on the property, such as food trucks, bouncy castles, vendor booths, etc.)

  • Property Owner Permission / Rental Permit

How to apply 

  1. Wait for review and approval. 

  1. If approved, pay the applicable fee (fees are waived for charitable organizations). 

  1. Once payment is received, your licence will be issued. 

After you apply 

After you submit your application, Town staff will review your information to ensure it meets all requirements. You may be contacted if additional details or documentation are needed. Once approved, you will receive confirmation and next steps. 

Your licence is not valid until it has been approved.
