Smoke alarms and carbon monoxide alarms must be installed:

  • On each level of your home
  • Outside all sleeping areas

Important reminders:

  • Test your smoke alarms monthly
  • Check the expiry date or replace every 10 years
  • Change alarm batteries yearly
  • Check that outside vents and chimneys are not blocked
  • Get an annual inspection of all fuel-burning appliances in your home
