Monthly overnight parking in parks

To help ease on-street parking pressures, the Town of Milton launched a one-year pilot program. This offers overnight parking permits in designated lots at municipal parks.

There are 400 parking spaces available across all four wards. This pilot provides residents with a temporary parking option as our community continues to grow.

Permits cost $60 per month, are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and allow overnight parking for the full month in the lot of a designated park. To qualify, you must not have any outstanding parking violations.

The pilot will run until summer 2026. Community feedback will help shape future parking strategies.

Permanent 15-hour Parking

Please send us an email to apply for permanent 15-hour parking. The request should include the reason for requesting parking on your street. Once we receive your request, we will conduct a site inspection to see if your street can support permanent 15-hour parking.

Please be advised that permanent 15-hour parking can only be requested by the homeowner. Non-homeowners must ask homeowners to submit a request. The process to look at permanent 15-hour parking takes anywhere between 2-3 months.

Step-by-step process

Considerations before applying

  • Are you the registered homeowner?
  • Have you already used your 25 parking exceptions per vehicle for the year?
  • Do you have a garage?
If yes, are you utilizing it to park a vehicle?

Send an email to apply

To apply for permanent 15-hour parking, please send an email to Engineering for consideration.

If you would like to submit your request in writing, please address the request to:

Gather signatures

If we feel your street can support permanent 15-hour parking, we will give you an information package and petition form. You must gather signatures from 51 per cent of the homeowners on your street indicating that they support permanent 15-hour parking.

Fill out the parking questionnaire

If you are able to get 51 per cent or more support, we will issue an official parking questionnaire to confirm support. Each individual homeowner on the street must complete the questionnaire and return it to the Town of Milton before the specified date.

Parking by-law amendment request

If 51 per cent or more of homeowners support permanent 15-hour parking on the questionnaire, we will ask Council for an amendment to the parking by-law on your street. Once this is approved, new parking signs will be installed on your street.
Permanent 15-hour parking will not take effect until all appropriate signs have been installed.

Impact of permanent 15-hour parking

It is important to note that permanent 15-hour parking on one side of your street will result in no parking on the other side of the street at all times. Permanent 15-hour street parking may:
  • Complicate parking enforcement, snow removal, road maintenance and waste collection efforts
  • Result in residents from nearby streets parking on your street
