Milton finalizes 2026 budget

On Dec. 1, 2025, the Town of Milton finalized its 2026 budget, which includes $125.8 million in capital projects and $236.1 million in operating funds to deliver programs and services to Milton’s growing community.

The 2026 budget reflects Council and community priorities by investing in the five themes of the Town’s strategic plan:

• Invest in people
• Innovate in technology and process
• Quality facilities and amenities
• Connected transit and mobility
• Planned community growth

Capital and operating investments

The capital program includes 134 projects that support Milton’s growth by building new infrastructure and renewing existing assets. 

The operating budget funds day-to-day services such as:

• Fire protection
• Snow clearing
• Road and park maintenance
• Transit
• Stormwater pond maintenance
• Culture
• Recreation
• Milton Public Library services

Property taxes in 2026

The Town collects property taxes on behalf of three agencies: the Town of Milton, Halton Region, and the Province (school boards). Your property tax bill combines the amounts required by all three.

In 2026, the Town’s portion of the residential property tax bill will increase by 6.94 per cent. The estimated overall residential tax increase, including all three agencies, is 4.75 per cent, pending rates being finalized by both Halton Region and the Province.

This increase represents about $39.225 per $100,000 of a residential property’s assessed value. A Milton home assessed at $600,000 by the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation is expected to pay about $5,191.34 in total property taxes in 2026.

Milton continues to have among the lowest overall property taxes in Ontario.
