The Town of Milton offers a variety of drop-in, league and registered sports programs. Whether you are just learning or an experienced player, you are encouraged to come out and be active by playing sports.

Our registered programs are a great way to develop fundamental movement skills, try a new sport or improve your skills. We offer preschool, children, youth and adult registered sports programs.

We offer drop-in badminton, basketball, pickleball, soccer, floor hockey and volleyball. There are youth, adult and family sessions available.

Accompanying children

Parents or guardians must be 18 years of age or older and must stay in the program area for Family/Parent & Child registered and drop-in programs for all children under the age of 12.

Rates

You can pay-per-visit or buy our 10-visit or annual pass. 10-visit and annual passes are valid for all drop-in sports and Play with Me. Visit a customer service desk to buy your pass.

Milton adult recreational basketball league

Want to play ball? Join us as a team or an individual. This is a great way to meet new people, stay active and have fun. Each team will play one 50-minute game per week for 14 weeks. There is a 1-minute halftime scheduled between halves. 

Registration

 You need to register at least one-week before the league starts in order to reserve your spot. To register as a team  you need to designate one member as the team captain. They will register and pay the fee on behalf of the entire team. The league convener will contact you to submit your team roster and waivers before the league start-date.
To register as an individual, please register as a free agent and the league convener will place you on a team before the season starts. 

Cost

To register as a team, it costs:

  • $1,952.82 for Milton residents per season (14 weeks)
  • $2,148.11 for non-Milton residents per season (14 weeks)

To register as an individual, it costs:

  • $244.10 for Milton residents per season (14 weeks)
  • $268.51 for non-Milton residents per season (14 weeks)

Rules

All games are officiated by Ontario Basketball Association officials.

General rules

  • Spectators must remain in the designated spectator area. League staff reserves the right to remove non-playing spectators from the facility at any time
  • No children are allowed in the playing area
  • Each player on the team must be represented on the game sheet. All players must sign-in before the start of each game
  • Verbal or physical abuse will not be tolerated under any circumstances and will result in your removal from the program
  • Officials have final decisions on all matters
  • All teams will play a 50-minute game each week with a 1-minute halftime
  • Games will consist of two, 25-minute halves. The final two minutes of the game will be played stopped time if the difference in the score is 10 or under at the two-minute mark
  • If the game still remains tied, teams will alternate free throws (different player each time) until one team makes the shot and the other team misses
  • Teams are allowed one 30-second time-out each half. Unused time-outs cannot be carried over to the next half. Players cannot call time-out while in the air or while falling out of bounds
  • The final weeks of the league will be used for championship and consolation playoffs
  • International Basketball Federation (FIBA) rules are in effect unless otherwise stated
  • Foul shots will be 1+ bonus at the 6th team foul and double bonus at the 8th team foul
  • Offensive fouls do not equate to shots if the team is in a penalty
  • For Technical Fouls, opposing teams will be awarded 1 free throw and possession
  • For Unsportsmanlike Fouls, opposing teams will be awarded 1 free throw and possession at half

Player rules

  • All players must complete the registration process prior to participation in the league. Players who are not registered for the league cannot play. Games played with ineligible players will result in a forfeit
  • New players may register for teams up until half way through the regular season
  • Injured players may be replaced at the League Convener’s discretion, but must be removed from the roster
  • Players must have a clear number on the back of their jersey
  • All teams must have a minimum of five players. If a team is unable to field a 5th player after 10 minutes of game play, this will result in a forfeit
  • Teams may only substitute during a play stoppage
  • Players receiving more than three personal fouls in any Milton adult recreational basketball league game will receive a minimum one-game suspension
  • Any assault to game officials or Milton staff will result in immediate removal from all Milton programs
