The Milton Sports Hall of Fame is a not-for-profit organization and is a Partner with the Town of Milton.

Nomination Options

Athletes

A nominee must have:

  • demonstrated outstanding achievement in a Sport*; or
  • displayed above average proficiency in a number of Sports* over multiple years; or
  • through participation in their Sport(s)* brought honour or positive recognition to the Town of Milton.
  • been retired from active, on-field participation in their Sport(s*) for a period of not less than 3 years; or has reached the age of 50 years.
  • born in Milton or lived in Milton for a minimum of 5 years.

Nominate an Athlete 

Teams

Two or more athletes competing together as a unit in the same sport must:

  • participate as a local town of Milton team(s) in a Sport*; and
  • have achieved distinction at the local, provincial, national or international level.
  • have been out of active competition in their Sport* for a minimum of three years or the majority of members on the team must have reached the age of 50 years.

Builders

Non-Athletes and Organizations who contribute to the operation or governance of a Sport*, referees including officials; board members of a sports group or team; sponsors of sports groups or teams; trainers; guides; team executives; helpers; volunteers and coaches must:

  • have made an outstanding contribution to building or supporting their Sport(s)* within the Town of Milton over 5 years, or
  • has contributed to their Sport(s)* at large over 5 years.
  • His/her work over that period of time, or over most of it, must have been of a consistently high level with regard to services provided or results achieved, or both.
  • Anyone nominated in the Builder category is eligible at any time. There is no waiting period. The nominee may still be active in the role(s) for which he/she has been nominated.

Notes:

  • Sport includes "Recognized Sport" defined as being part of a Recognized Provincial Sports Association (PSO), Multisport Organization (MSO), National Sports Organization (NSO) or a ParaSport Foundation (PSF), and non "Recognized Sports" as determined by the Board.
  • Any age requirement or waiting period may be reduced at the discretion of the Board in the case of exceptional skill, exceptional achievement or for posthumous nominations.
  • Eligible nominees will be placed on a list for 10 years. If a nominee is not inducted in that period they will be removed from the list and may reapply after a two year waiting period.

Volunteer

The Board of Directors are action-oriented individuals with a passion for local sports and a strong desire to help celebrate its history and excellence.

Apply to the Board of Directors

Responsibilities include attending regular Board meetings and joining at least one sub-committee. Experience in any of the following would be an asset: IT, websites, marketing and promotion, legal knowledge, event organizing, fundraising, nominee research or social media.
