The Town of Milton is launching a one-year pilot program offering overnight parking permits in select municipal parks starting on June 2, 2025. This program aims to ease street parking pressures in residential neighbourhoods.

This pilot provides a temporary solution as Milton transitions into a community with higher-density neighbourhoods and expanded public transit options.

“As Milton grows, residents are telling us they need more parking options. We’re listening,” said Mayor Gord Krantz. “This pilot gives us a chance to see if overnight parking permits are a workable solution as we move toward a more transit-oriented future.”

The pilot will run until summer 2026. Staff will review data and community feedback before considering long-term options, such as expanding the program.

Approximately 400 overnight parking spaces are available across designated parks. Locations were chosen based on parking ticket volume, zoning for accessory dwellings, and geographic distribution across all four wards.

“We’re thinking creatively about how to reduce parking pressures on local streets,” said Meaghen Reid, Director, Legislative and Legal Services/Town Clerk. “During the pilot, we will continue to learn, listen, and adjust before exploring a long-term solution.”
