In accordance with the provisions of the Planning Act, this is to advise that a statutory public meeting has been scheduled by the Town of Milton’s Development Services Department for an official plan amendment and zoning by-law amendment for lands described as Part of Lot 6 and all of Lots 7, 8, and 9, South of Main Street and all of Lots 4, 5,6 and 7 North of Pearl Street in the Town of Milton and are municipally identified as 388 Main Street East, 389, 395, 399, 405 and 409 Pearl Street and 17 Prince Street.

Application details

  • The subject lands include seven properties that are bounded by Main Street East, Bruce Street, Pearl Street and Prince Street and together comprise an area of approximately 0.57 hectares (1.41 acres).
  • Applications have been submitted for an Official Plan Amendment and Zoning By-law Amendment to facilitate the development of a high-density, mixed-use building with two towers (16-storeys and 18-storeys) on a 6-storey podium with ground flood maisonette units located along Pearl Street. The proposed development includes 570 residential units, a floor space index of 9.37 and 815 square metres of ground floor commercial space along Main Street East and Bruce Street. Parking is proposed in three levels of underground parking.
  • The purpose of the proposed Official Plan Amendment is to redesignate the subject lands to the Urban Growth Centre Mixed Use Sub-Area designation and apply a site-specific policy area to facilitate the proposed development.
  • The purpose of the proposed Zoning By-law Amendment is to amend the Town’s Urban Zoning By-law 016-2014, as amended, to apply a site-specific Urban Growth Centre Mixed Use (UGC-MU*XX) zone to permit the proposed high-density mixed-use development. Other site-specific provisions are also proposed to address parking, amenity space, floor space index, building height, setbacks, stepbacks, tower height, tower separation and floor plates.

The community is invited to attend and participate in the statutory public meeting. This meeting will be held as a hybrid meeting with members of the public having the opportunity to participate in-person at Town Hall or electronically. Members of the public are also encouraged to view the meeting by watching the live stream. If a person or public body would otherwise have an ability to appeal the decision of Milton Council to the Ontario Land Tribunal but the person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the Town of Milton before the by-law is passed, the person or public body is not entitled to appeal the decision.

If a person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting, or make written submissions to Milton Council before the by-law is passed, the person or public body may not be added as a party to the hearing of an appeal before the Ontario Land Tribunal unless, in the opinion of the Tribunal, there are reasonable grounds to do so.

If you have received this notice and are an owner of a property and said property contains seven or more residential units, you are required to post this notice in a location that is visible to all the residents.
