Information for 2026 Election candidates
Nominations for the Town of Milton’s 2026 Municipal Election open May 1, 2026, and close on Aug. 21, 2026, at 2 p.m.
Interested candidates can file their nominations with the Town of Milton for the offices of:
- Mayor – One to be elected at large
- Regional Councillor (Wards 1,2,3 and 4) – One to be elected in each ward
- Town Councillor (Wards 1,2,3, and 4) – One to be elected in each ward
- Trustee for the Halton District School Board - Two:
- One to be elected by Wards 1 & 2
- One to be elected by Wards 3 & 4
- Trustee for the Halton Catholic District School Board - Two:
- One to be elected by Wards 1 & 4
- One to be elected by Wards 2 & 3

Nomination period |

The nomination period opens on Friday, May 1, 2026, and closes at 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 21, 2026. Nomination forms must be filed at Town of Milton Town Hall, 150 Mary St. All candidate services are provided at Town Hall during regular business hours. Appointments are encouraged to ensure timely service, particularly when filing a nomination, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Election staff are available Monday to Friday (excluding holidays) to answer questions and provide election information in person, by phone at 905‑875‑5390 and online during regular business hours. Request an appointment to file your nomination A person cannot raise or spend money on their election campaign until they have filed a Nomination Form with the Town Clerk or a designated election official. |

On April 21, 2026, Halton municipalities hosted the Thinking about running for Council? Information Session. The session provided an overview of the roles and responsibilities of municipal and regional council members, including expected time commitments, as well as legal and financial obligations associated with serving on Council.
