Construction notice
This project will improve roads, infrastructure, and safety. Work includes:
- Rebuilding and upgrading Nipissing Road
- Widening Childs Drive to add turn lanes
- Upgrading sanitary sewers on Nipissing Road, Childs Drive, and Ontario Street South (near Childs Drive)
- Adding a new right-turn lane on Ontario Street South
The project will be done in phases, and will include:
- Lane closures
- Traffic control
- Short-term road closures
Residents and businesses will receive advance notice with estimated dates for each phase.
- Property access will stay open during construction
- If work is needed on your driveway, you will receive at least 48 hours’ notice
- Some work will happen at night and on weekends

Start: Mid August 2025
Completion: Fall 2027
Location
- The full length of Nipissing Road
- Childs Drive, from Ontario Street South to approximately 300 metres east
- Ontario Street South, from approximately 300 metres south of Childs Drive to Childs Drive

Nipissing Road

Widen the road to three lanes: one in each direction, plus a shared center left-turn lane
- Build a 3.5-metre-wide multi-use path for walking and cycling (north side)
- Add a 1.5-metre-wide concrete sidewalk (south side)
- Replace ditches with curbs and storm sewers, where possible
- Adjust grading and driveways (some work may be on private property)
- Upgrade 1,000 metres of sanitary sewer
- Install a new traffic light at Nipissing Road and Childs Drive
Traffic impacts:
- One westbound lane will stay open from Thompson Road to Childs Drive
- This will be in place from fall 2025 to summer 2026
Childs Drive
- Widen the road to add two left-turn lanes onto Ontario Street South
- Build a 1.5-metre-wide concrete sidewalk (south side, from Ontario Street to Nipissing Road)
- Upgrade 650 metres of wastewater pipes (from Ontario Street to Satok Crescent)
Traffic impacts:
- Short closures between Nipissing Road and Satok Crescent from August to September 2025
- Local traffic will be allowed
- No through traffic during closures
- Two-way traffic will remain open between Ontario street and Nipissing Road from summer to winter 2026
Ontario Street
- Widen the road to add a northbound right-turn lane
- Update the traffic signals at Ontario Street and Childs Drive
