News release

Milton Town council endorsed a new Economic Development Strategy, at their meeting on Feb. 28. The new strategy identifies the building blocks of economic development work the Town plans to do over the next five years.

The Strategy provides Council and staff with a strategic planning framework to continue to drive economic growth and long-term prosperity, advance an innovative start-up ecosystem, engage private-sector and long-standing partners, promote Milton as a desirable destination for talent, and advance economic development initiatives.

The strategy is guided by four goals, which are:

  1. Grow and cultivate Milton’s export clusters to foster prosperity.
  2. Bolster Milton’s start-up ecosystem to drive future competitiveness.
  3. Build Milton as a premier destination for diverse talent.
  4. Define and promote Milton’s brand for new economic development.

Each goal consists of four priorities, which include actionable items that Town staff will prioritize and undertake.

"This Strategy lays the foundation to deliver a balanced commercial, industrial, and residential tax base. It’s this balance that makes Milton A Place of Possibility, where urban meets rural, businesses prosper, entrepreneurs innovate, and our complete communities thrive.”
