Milton Council to consider options to fill vacancy

Milton Council will consider options to fill a vacant Council seat during its regular meeting on Monday, May 26, 2025, at 7 p.m.

The agenda item has been added following the election of Ward 1 Town Councillor Kristina Tesser Derksen as the Member of Parliament for the new riding of Milton East–Halton Hills South.

Council will review options for filling a vacancy—appoint a new member or hold a by-election—and will direct staff on next steps. The seat would be filled until the next municipal election in October 2026.
