Milton delivered strong gains in employment, industrial activity, and business investment in 2025, reinforcing its position as a competitive market in the Greater Toronto Area.

The 2025 InvestMilton Annual Report shows Milton drove employment growth in the region, with jobs increasing by approximately 25 per cent since 2020. Other encouraging trends in the report include:

  • Industrial leasing activity in Milton more than doubled in 2025.
  • Employment land vacancies fell from 19 to 12 per cent, as of Q1 2026.
  • Milton grew its industrial inventory by nearly 2 million square feet, adding space to attract global head offices.

Priority sectors continue to outperform

Advanced manufacturing, a core pillar of Milton’s export economy, continued to support more than 6,500 local jobs. Jobs in transportation and warehousing grew by 10 per cent, reinforced by Milton’s strategic location along the Highway 401 corridor.

The strongest growth came in the professional, scientific and technical services sector. Since 2021, employment in engineering, technical consulting, IT services, and life sciences support grew by 34 per cent. This growth reflects Milton’s highly educated STEM workforce and ongoing efforts to attract innovative businesses, building the Town’s reputation as a professional services hub.

Investment supported by planning and infrastructure

The report highlights how investments in good planning and infrastructure drive economic growth. For example, Milton’s expanded transit service improves access to key business parks and post‑secondary campuses. In addition, the Milton Education Village continues to advance the Town’s vision as a hub for health care, post‑secondary projects, and mixed‑use growth.
