Milton Fire & Rescue Services are warning residents about fraudulent calls requesting donations on behalf of the fire department.
These calls are not authorized by Milton Fire & Rescue Services or the Town of Milton.
"It’s disturbing that a scam would target our fire service to exploit Milton’s community spirit,” said Deputy Chief Gord Fowler. “Let’s stay vigilant so we protect ourselves and our neighbours.”
It’s important that residents know:
- Milton Fire & Rescue Services does not solicit donations by phone, email, or door-to-door.
- Any legitimate fundraising connected to the Town or fire department will be announced on official Town or Fire & Rescue Service communication channels.
- If you receive a suspicious call, hang up and do not provide personal or financial information.
If you suspect fraud, please report it to:
- Halton Regional Police (905-825-4777)
- Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre (1-888-495-8501) or antifraudcentre-centreantifraude.ca/
