Public service announcement

The Town of Milton is seeking public input before developing a Nuisance By-law that aims to foster the quality of life in our neighbourhoods.

The Municipal Act, 2001, S.O. 2001, c. 25 permits the Town to prohibit and regulate certain public nuisances respecting the economic, social and environmental well-being of the community, and the health, safety and the protection of persons and property.

Milton's by-law will aim to minimize neighbourhood disturbances and regulate/prohibit activities that may reasonably prevent residents from enjoying their properties.

Public input is valued so that the by-law addresses issues of concern in our community, sets fines appropriately and effectively preserves the quality of life in the Town of Milton.

The Nuisance By-law survey explores questions such as:

  • What do you consider a public nuisance?
  • Have you reported any nuisance incidents to the Town of Milton?
  • The purpose of fines is to deter further violations. What do you believe should be the appropriate range of fines to deter nuisances in the town?

The results of the survey will be used to inform an updated by-law for Council’s review and approval in March. If approved, the by-law is expected to be enacted in spring 2024.

To provide input, please visit Let’s Talk Milton to complete the Nuisance By-law survey, which closes on Feb. 9, 2024.

Survey participants have a chance to win a set of noise-cancelling headphones. Contest rules apply.
