The Town of Milton is seeking public input as it reviews and updates its Noise By-law to reflect today’s growing and changing community.
Milton’s Noise By-law regulates or prohibits noise and activities that may interfere with residents’ enjoyment of their homes and neighbourhoods. The by-law helps balance everyday activities, community events, and construction with residents’ right to reasonable peace and quiet.
Public input is a key part of the review. Resident feedback will help the Town better understand real-world conditions across neighbourhoods.

About the Noise By-law review
The Noise By-law was last updated in 2012. Since then, Milton has experienced significant growth, with more homes, residents, and active patterns of work and recreation. The review helps ensure the by-law reflects current community expectations and remains fair, reasonable, and enforceable.
The current Noise By-law includes a process for exemptions, which are common at some times of the year. In the review, staff will look at how exemptions are considered to ensure the process remains consistent and transparent.
