As the use of ride sharing or transportation network companies, such as Uber or Lyft, have been established and are operating in Milton, the Town of Milton is reviewing the current Taxi Licensing By-law.

Transportation network companies or ride sharing is defined as prearranged transportation through an online application (such as a smart phone app) that connects drivers using their personal vehicles with passengers.

The Town is engaging with the community to help in the development of recommendations to create a balanced, competitive, market for licensing vehicles, owners, and operations of taxi and transportation network companies within Milton.

Currently, the Town of Milton does not regulate the use of transportation network companies. For that reason, the community consultation intends to identify the current state of residents’ concerns, their needs and priorities, while also providing an opportunity to update the existing taxi by-law regulations.

The Rideshare Survey is online now and those interested in having their say are asked to complete the survey before the May 31, 2022 deadline.
