Additional information

Parents/guardians will receive a welcome email two days in advance to the start of camp, which will include important information to prepare for camp.

Is your camper 'group ready'?

To support the success, safety, and inclusion, campers must be ‘group ready’. Town of Milton camps are fast-paced with a variety of activities and settings including gyms, pools, arenas, and playgrounds. Staff to camper ratios will vary depending on the program:

  • Kindercamp (4- 5 yrs) – 1 staff for every 8 participants
  • Junior and Senior Camps (5-12 yrs) - 1 staff for every 10 participants

Multiple groups may be present in the same program space with groups ranging from 20-60 campers.

Consider whether your child can do the following either independently or with extra support on a consistent basis:

  • Follows directions and instructions from a staff person.
  • Comfortable with interacting in a large group (20-60 participants) and able to remain in the program space.
  • Safely participate in daily activities including group games, outdoor play, crafts, snacks, and lunch times. Interact and participate in the program in a way that is safe for themselves and others.

Behaviour management

Every participant, together with staff, volunteers, and parents/guardians, contribute to the success of the programs and services offered by the Town. In order to provide quality programs and services, please be sure to read through the Participant Code of Behaviour in advance of registering for camp programs.

Inclusion supports at camp

If your child receives additional support in school, it’s likely that they will require support in the camp environment.

Formal school supports may include:

  • Individualized Education Plan
  • Behaviour Safety Plan
  • Educational Assistant (EA) support
  • Modified programming or schedule

Consider, does your child receive support at school or in community settings for any of the following:

  • Managing emotional reactions and emotional regulation
  • Managing physical reactions (hitting, pushing, leaving program space) when upset/frustrated
  • Remaining in the program space
  • Transitioning safely between spaces (ie. walking from gym to the pool)
  • Require assistance with feeding or going to the washroom, including preforming hygiene care (i.e., wiping, changing into a bathing suit, one to one supervision or hand over hand with eating).

If your participant requires any of these supports at school or in community settings, it is recommended that you consider inclusion support services.

For participants who require additional supports to participate in camp, see the options below and go to the Inclusion Programs webpage for further details.
