A third party advertiser who plans to advertise in Milton is required to register with the Town Clerk before incurring any expenses.

A third party advertisement is a message in any medium (such as billboard, newspaper, radio, etc.) that supports or opposes a candidate.

Advertising that focuses on issues—not specific candidates—is not considered third-party advertising. Groups involved in issue-based advocacy can continue their outreach throughout the municipal election period.

To learn more, review the Third Party Advertisers’ Guide and find out how to register.

 Eligibility

You can register as a third party advertiser and file a notice of registration if you are:
  • An individual who lives in Ontario
  • A corporation that does business in Ontario
  • A trade union that holds bargaining rights for employees in Ontario

Registration Deadline: the notice of registration cannot be filed earlier than the first day for filing nominations and cannot be filed later than Oct. 23 at 4:30 p.m.

 Campaigning

The campaign period begins on the day the individual, corporation or trade union registers with the Town and ends on Dec. 31, 2026, for the 2026 Municipal Election.
