Updating your school support

As of Jan. 1, 2024, the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) no longer collects voter information for municipal elections. MPAC is still responsible for collecting electors' school support designation information.

Property owners must support a school system, even if they do not have children or their children are not currently attending school. This information appears on your Property Assessment Notice.

You can update your school support designation using MPAC’s Online School Support Tool.

Learn more by visiting MPAC’s website.

How to vote

Important information regarding dates, times, and locations can be found on your voter notification card. Voter notification cards will be distributed in late September 2026.

 Vote in person

You can vote in-person on advance voting days (Oct. 12 to Oct. 15, 2026), or on Election Day (Oct. 26, 2026). Advanced voting and Election Day voting locations to be shared at a later date.

If you are not on the voter’s list, but you are an eligible elector, you can still vote.

 Vote by mail

Vote by Mail is an alternative voting option for eligible electors. Additional details, including how to request a kit and key dates, will be shared at a later date.

 Vote by proxy

If you are unable to vote in person or by mail, you may appoint a voting proxy. A proxy is someone you trust who is an eligible  elector in the Town of Milton and will vote on your behalf.

Proxies may be appointed after nominations are certified (Aug. 24, 2026 at 4 p.m.). A Voting Proxy Appointment Form (Form 3) must be completed, signed by both the elector and the proxy, and certified by the Clerk before Election Day, Oct. 26, 2026 at 4:30 p.m.

Certification is completed in person at Town of Milton Town Hall, 150 Mary St., Milton. Identification for both the elector and the proxy is required.

Important:

A proxy may vote for only one person, unless voting for a relative.

Executors, trustees, or other representatives must also have a certified proxy form.

 Voter notification cards

Voter notification cards will be sent out in late September. Your card will show your voting days and selected voting locations.

Make sure you bring this card with you on Election Day when you go to your voting location to help speed up the process.

If you did not receive a voter notification card but are an eligible elector, you can still cast a vote by bringing acceptable identification.

Identification requirements

You must bring identification (ID) with you when you go to your voting location.

If your name is on the voters’ list, you will need to show one piece of identification that has your name and address on it. Photo ID is not required.

Acceptable identification includes:

  • Ontario driver’s license

  • Ontario photo card

  • A cancelled personalized cheque

  • An insurance policy or statement
