The Agerton Employment Area and Trafalgar Corridor Secondary Plan Area are a part of Milton’s next phase of growth and development (2021-31). These areas are being planned together in accordance with provincial, regional policies and local policies to achieve the vision of a mixed-use intensification and transit-supportive corridor.

Secondary plans for these areas will establish a detailed planning and policy framework that will guide future development to contribute to building a complete community.

A proposed major transit station was identified in the area at Derry and Trafalgar Roads within the Agerton Secondary Plan. This area is physically separated from the urban area by the Sixteen Mile Creek Valley and has an opportunity to accommodate higher density development and taller buildings in a way that contributes positively to the Town’s the overall urban structure.

Status updates

Trafalgar

Milton Council adopted the Trafalgar Secondary Plan on March 25, 2019 and it was submitted to Halton Region for approval. Halton Region approved the Secondary Plan with modifications in September 2022. Modifications can be viewed in Staff Report DS-110-22. The Secondary Plan was subsequently appealed and is now with the Ontario Land Tribunal.

Next steps

The Secondary Plan is now with the Ontario Land Tribunal and will not be in effect until after appeals are resolved.

Agerton

In January 2019, a statutory public meeting under the Planning Act was held for the Agerton Secondary Plan. In March 2019, a concept plan for the secondary plan was endorsed by Milton Council as part of the Regional Official Plan Review process.

Since 2019, there have been several upper tier policy changes that have impacted the area, resulting in changes to the Agerton Secondary Plan. A new draft of the Agerton Secondary Plan was presented for comment at an additional statutory public meeting on July 18, 2022.
